Devon Cattle are one of the oldest breeds of cattle still available today.

Devon cattle were among the first bovines brought over from Europe. The Devon is famously known as the butcher’s breed and as a multipurpose cow. Devon oxen were used for many day-to-day chores. When not at work, Devons were used for their rich butterfat milk and their tender, easy fleshing beef. Devons have evolved over the years to be longer, taller and with leaner meat. The breed is known for its hardiness and adaptability to a wide range of environments. Devons are among a few heritage breeds that thrive on a grass only diet. Tender, lean meats, adaptability, and grass-only diet are some of the reasons that the Devon cattle were chosen for Clover Springs Farm.
